Evolutionary Astrology for January 2014: Keeping Up As the Beat Goes On

By Himat Kaur

This will be a short and sweet forecast friends, reflecting that people are feeling the familiar chiseling and the need is to keep up as things continue. Uranus resumed direct motion December 17th, and is now moving back towards the square to Pluto that will happen in April.

Those planets are less than three degrees apart, so although Uranus was retrograde and moving away from the Pluto square aspect, it never really left the distance of influence. So, we are still in the midst of the ongoing beaming catharsis of Uranus and Pluto, and other planets have been dancing in areas that form frictional aspects with them, building heightened tension that churns our growth.

January’s Major Planetary Stimulations

A quick triptych of some key days to be conscious and practice meditations for balance and clearing:

On New Year’s Day 2014, we had a New Moon at 10 degrees of Capricorn, and it made a big “grand cross” in the sky, with planets in four cross points triggering and pulling on one another: the New Moon (Sun and Moon) was conjunct Pluto and Mercury in Capricorn; Jupiter opposed the New Moon from its position in Cancer; Mars squared it from Libra, and of course Uranus squared it from Aries. These four areas connecting to Uranus and Pluto are lit up like Christmas trees, as they say.

On January 5th, Mars is at 13 degrees of Libra, opposing the point Uranus will occupy in the next Uranus-Pluto square in April 2014.

On January 15th, we may experience further cathartic friction with the Full Moon in Cancer.

On January 31st, Jupiter in Cancer opposes Pluto in Capricorn. We have been in the beams of these two planetary transits through opposite signs for many months, so the energies are not new to us. However, we will experience the tension of the exact opposition of Jupiter and Pluto on this day. Internal sensitivities may be high, and meditations to balance the emotions, as well as body fluids and hormones would be helpful.

That same day (31st), Venus—which has been retrograde since December 21st—pauses to resume forward motion at 13 degrees of Capricorn, which is the degree of Pluto in the upcoming Uranus-Pluto square in April.

Hold onto your socks and keep meditating and communicating consciously.

What You Can Do

Here are a few yogic suggestions to consider for this month:

  • Meditation to Eliminate Tension and Stress (from Physical Wisdom1)
  • Meditation for a Calm Heart2
  • The Liberated Heart Meditation2

Meditation for Emotional Balance2 – This is specifically a suggestion for the full Moon in Cancer on January 15th. It works on emotional balance and water balance in the system.
